Restored: Repairing Your Mindset Before You Take On The Day.
Restored
This is the act of being brought back. To return to one’s original health. To get yourself centered. And it’s the 2nd action and the “R” in my G.R.E.A.T. principle towards your self-improvement. From moving from just being "good" to being "Great".
This can be a daily ritual but it could also be a true getaway from the stresses in life. My wife is great at acknowledging the moments I need to get “away” to work on my projects in solitude without having to kiss Boo-boos or be a superhero dad so I can continue to grow, learn and develop my mindset while working on my self-care at the same time. I can stay in a hotel a few miles away and still be “away” so I can do the most important thing to grow my business and improve not only the self-care of my clients but for myself as well. This is accomplished in 3 phases:
- Information
- Motivation
- Strategy
Information gathering is a critical 1st step in the process of rewiring your habits. This helps us identify the “What I know”- severity, risks, susceptibility, obstacles, benefits, and guidelines. When you have these markers identified, you will have clarity on where you are at and where you need to go.
Motivation is the 2nd step as this will clearly help us identify the “Why” you want to change your current habits and behaviors. This is a representation of your values and an internal process you use to fuel your desire to change. It’s important to attach a habit or behavior with a high level of importance here as you’ll be more likely to make lasting changes if it is the most important thing for you to correct.
The 3rd and final step is Strategy. This is “How” we can create healthy changes. This step is crucial because it lays out the identifiers you must complete to make the change happen. It builds your confidence in your ability to make lasting changes.
If you have lost motivation with your goals, habits, and behaviors, then it typically means you have a “disconnection” with what you value and the actions and choices you are taking. So in order to achieve this, you need to be restored so you can repair any of these disconnections before you get started trying to build, maintain, or improve a habit or otherwise it will cost you extremely more energy than it needs to cost. It's like trying to run a race with a 50 lbs weight vest on. Can you do it? Yes, but it's going to be substantially harder.
